Hello, my name is Jessica.

Friends call me Jecca. I’m a freelance writer with 15+ years of experience. My work includes copywriting, personal essays, food features, and humor pieces. Children’s books are on the horizon. I’ve worked with McGruff the Crime Dog and was at one time the voice of the Skittles’ Rainbow.

I’ve been published on McSweeney’s, Slackjaw, Weekly Humorist, Motherly, and Scary Mommy, and featured on Cup of Jo. My work has appeared in print in SLICE Magazine and Six Words About Work, a book from SMITH Magazine.

Now in Milwaukee, I spent several years in New York and San Francisco focusing on copy and content design. I was Odopod‘s Director of Copy and Square’s first product copywriter. I’ve worked with SpaceX, Hawaiian Airlines, Nest, Fitbit, Google, Sony Pictures, Tesla, Audemars Piguet, and several start-ups. If you’re interested in working together, reach out on LinkedIn.

The pandemic has forced me into the present. It’s the meditation I never wanted but have come to appreciate. That said, last week I kicked a hole in the bathroom door.” – Me in The New York Times, April 2021
